Porter hits for a career-high .643
KINGSTON, R.I. – GW volleyball earned a weekend sweep of Rhode Island after a 3-0 victory at Keaney Gymnasium on Saturday night. The Buff & Blue's sixth 3-0 victory this season came with set scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-19.

Tierra Porter led with a match-high 10 kills, swinging for a career-high .643 hitting percentage. Salem Yohannes added nine kills and MC Daubendiek continued to be effective at opposite, putting down eight kills with one error to hit for .500. Dilara Elmacioglu tallied 17 assists and Grace Allread added 11 helpers and eight digs. Bella Bowman registered 16 digs and three assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GW moved to an early 5-0 lead at Keaney Gymnasium, forcing a Rhode Island timeout. Out of the break, six ties and a pair of lead changes occurred before GW strung together a six-point scoring run to take the lead at 20-13 and the visitors held on from there to take the set.
GW held the Rams to just 11 points in set two, hitting for a match-high .688 behind 12 kills. A seven-point scoring run by the visitors sketched a commanding 18-6 lead. GW remained errorless for the remainder of the set, putting down three kills to help to the 2-0 set advantage.
The Buff & Blue buried a match-high 14 kills in the final set. Rhode Island showed a bit of momentum in the early stages of set three, but GW quickly regained control to take the lead for good at 10-7. GW extended its lead to as many as eight and finished the match with a strike from offensive leader Porter.Â

GW will head to VCU for its final pair of A-10 matches next Saturday and Sunday. The Buff & Blue and Rams get the weekend series started on Saturday at 1 p.m., and will close out the regular season slate on Sunday at 1 p.m.Â
