Bowman finished her historic night with a season-high 31 digs to lead GW's backline. Tierra Porter continued to be a presence at the net, leading GW with seven blocks.
Offensively, Brittany Myers led the Buff & Blue with 15 kills, while Salem Yohannes added 13. MC Daubendiek put down 11 kills and Liv Womble chipped in nine. Grace Allread (20) and Dilara Elmacioglu (19) led the offense almost evenly, assisting a firing GW attack that tallied 54 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
After Saint Louis jumped to a 6-2 lead to open set one, GW was able to even the frame at seven before the Billikens took the lead for good. GW found itself down 15-19 before a five-point scoring run by the visitors helped to a 1-0 set advantage.
Saint Louis out-hit GW in the second set behind 14 kills with just three errors to take set two.
Momentum shifted in GW's favor, holding Saint Louis to a .000 hitting percentage in each of the final three sets to lift the Buff & Blue to victory on home floor. After winning set three, GW's most commanding set came in the fourth frame, taking a dominant 16-3 advantage to force two early Saint Louis timeouts. Then, GW put together a nine-point scoring run and a five-point run to win set four by the largest margin of victory for the match, 25-10.
Saint Louis scored the first three points of the fifth set before GW tallied four straight to regain control. Then came three ties, including at the 12th point, before a pair of GW kills and a Billiken error signaled the celebration.
