
Season-Best Hitting Percentage Lifts Volleyball Over Davidson on Senior Day

Daubendiek and Yohannes lead GW offense
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball handed Davidson just its second loss in A-10 play on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats, 26-24, 28-26, 25-21.
BY THE NUMBERS
GW hit a season-high .342 on Saturday with 56 kills, led by MC Daubendiek's 15 and Salem Yohannes' 14. Daubendiek swung for .462, a career-high hitting percentage for the sophomore in a three-set match. Dilara Elmacioglu helped feed the attack with 24 assists and Grace Allread added 19.
Defensively, Bella Bowman led GW with 20 digs and Tierra Porter made seven stops at the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The early stages of set one were tightly contested before a five-point service run by Yohannes helped GW create separation at 21-14. Then, five straight points from the visitors evened the set at 23. Davidson staved off one set point before a GW kill and Wildcat error lifted GW to the 26-24 victory. GW tallied a match-high 20 kills in the opening frame.
After another back-and-forth start to set two, GW found itself behind 20-17. A pair of kills from Yohannes and a Davidson error leveled the set at 20. Then came six ties before back-to-back errors from Davidson lifted the Buff & Blue to a 2-0 set lead.
GW's most efficient set came in the final stanza, putting down 18 kills with a .484 efficiency. Davidson led at 10-7 before a pair of kills and service aces for the Buff & Blue helped erase the deficit and give GW the 14-12 advantage. GW then led the rest of the way and put the match away with a kill from Porter.
UP NEXT
GW heads to Rhode Island next Friday and Saturday for a pair of matches with the Rams. First serve for both games is set for 6 p.m.
