An eight-goal second half lifts GW over Rams
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse closed out its season on Sunday, topping VCU, 14-9, on Senior Day.

Ioanna Mantzouratos, Catie Perkins, Abby Carlin and Alexa Solomon were the four seniors recognized before today's contest.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ Â
The two teams went head-to-head for the entire first half, with the largest lead owned by the home team at 3-1. GW narrowly outscored the Rams, 6-5, in the opening 30-minutes of the contest after a pair of goals from Mantzouratos and one score each from Kendall Lambert, Amber Germer, Katelyn Walker and Sophia Watkinson.

VCU came out on the attack to start the second half, rattling off two in a row to take the 7-6 lead. The Buff and Blue netted a pair of their own to regain the advantage until the Rams struck back to even things up at eight. GW would allow the Rams to score just one more goal, closing the game by outscoring its opponent, 6-1. Four goals in the final seven minutes of action helped GW stretch its lead to five, securing its third conference victory and first over VCU to wrap up the season.

-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Germer and Perkins led the team in scoring with three goals apiece.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â GW held the 17-8 advantage on draw controls, 11 of which were handled by Perkins.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Buff and Blue outshot the Rams 39-25 and put 31 shots to VCU's 17 on goal.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In net, Solomon made three saves in 15 minutes of action while Megan Patrick came up with five stops.
