Natalie Silberman scored for GW in the second overtime
RICHMOND, Va. – The GW women's soccer team won 1-0 in a Sunday afternoon match against Richmond. GW and the Spiders battled back-and-forth for 104 minutes until Natalie Silberman was able to find the back of the net, giving the Buff and Blue their first road win of the season.
In the second overtime, Maria Pareja fired one on net, but the Spiders' keeper was able to knock it away and play continued on. Four minutes later, Silberman fired her shot to the left corner, giving GW the sudden-death victory.
With the win, GW now sits at 2-1-0 on the season, 1-0 in conference play.
NOTEWORTHY
- GW outshot Richmond in the second overtime 3-0. GWs winning goal gave the Buff and Blue the narrow 15-14 edge on total shots.
- Silberman recorded her second goal of the 2021 spring season.
- Tori Minda led GW with six shots and three shots on goal. Pareja tallied five, putting one on net.
