GW tallies seven goals in the victory, its highest score since 2006
WASHINGTON- After not playing on its home turf in over a year, the George Washington women's soccer team came out in dominant fashion, shutting out Delaware State 7-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 3rd minute – GW was able to get on the board early after a quick strike by Natalie Silberman, assisted by Tori Minda. (GW 1, DSU, 0)
- 14th minute – Rachel Sorkenn was able to get one past the reach of the Hornets' keeper off a swift pass from Hannah Zaluski. (GW, 2 DSU, 0)
- 19th minute – Minda scored her first goal of the game in the 19th minute, assisted by Sammy Neyman. Less than a minute later, Minda found the back of the net again, this time off a pass from Kelly Amador. (GW, 4 DSU, 0)
- 66th minute – GW's operative offense continued in the second half. Madi Coyne scored unassisted, putting GW up 5-0.
- 75th minute – First-year Elizabeth Cruz recorded her first goal of her GW career off an assist from Lauren Prentice. (GW, 6 DSU, 0)
- 81st minute – In the final ten minutes, Sorkenn fired one past the keeper for her second goal of the game. Prentice assisted on GW's final score of the day. (GW, 7 DSU, 0)
NOTEWORTHY
- GW's seven goals marks the highest scoring game for the Buff and Blue since their 2006 8-0 victory over Howard.
- GW outshot Delaware State 32-1. GW recorded a season-high 17 shots on goal.
- First-year Cruz scored her first goal in a GW uniform. Fellow rookie Prentice tallied two assists for a career-high.
- GW was able to spread out its offense having five different players score a goal in today's game.
- In net, Tamaki Machi recorded her first victory of the season.
