GW welcomes Revolutionary Rival on Friday at 5 p.m.
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball returns to action on Friday night, closing out the season with a Senior Day matchup against Revolutionary Rival George Mason. First serve is set for 5 p.m. with Senior Day ceremonies airing on ESPN+ at approximately 4:50 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: Following a pause for COVID-19 protocols, GW is back on the court for the first time since March 6 vs. Fordham. Sarah Pintel paced the Buff & Blue that day with a career-high 19 kills, blasting past her previous best of 10 done twice earlier this season.
CELEBRATING SENIORS: GW will honor three student-athletes on Friday evening in graduate student Ashley Waggle and seniors Callie Fauntleroy and Sydney Welch. Waggle, a graduate transfer from TCU, has led the team in attacking this year with 96 kills and 114 points. Fauntleroy has been a reliable middle blocker throughout her career and Welch has held down the back line and is one of the team's two captains this season.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS: Mason snapped its five-game losing streak with a four-set win over La Salle on Wednesday to improve to 4-5 in league play. The Patriots took a pair of matches from GW earlier this season in Farifax with a straight-set victory and a five-set triumph on consecutive days. GW still owns an impressive 43-12 all-time record against its Revolutionary Rival.
