Volleyball Hosts Howard in Home Opener

GW welcomes Bison on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball will welcome Howard to the Smith Center on Tuesday for its home opener of the 2020-21 season. First serve is set for 6 p.m. with a live stream available on ESPN+.
LEADING THE WAY: Graduate student Ashley Waggle set a career-high with 20 kills at George Mason on Sunday, surpassing her previous high of 19 set with TCU last season. Waggle has notched double-digit kills in three of GW's four matches and is pacing the team in kills per set (3.47), points per set (4.30) and is second in attack percentage (.248).
BRINGING THE BLOCK: GW had a season-high 15 blocks on Sunday at Mason, its most since a 16-block day at Davidson in November 2019. Senior Callie Fauntleroy led the way for the Buff & Blue with eight block assists, one off her career-best. Fauntleroy, who was fourth on the team a year ago with 65 blocks, tops the team this year with 16, averaging 1.07 per set.
ACROSS THE NET: Howard is 1-0 on the year, winning its only match of the season in straight sets over George Mason. The Bison outhit the Patriots .310 to .000 in the match, led by nine kills from freshman Jennifer Bolden. The Bison are coming off a MEAC regular season and tournament championship, going 20-13 in 2019 and earning their fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
