ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW's swimmers returned to competition on Sunday with a select group representing the Buff and Blue in a head-to-head meet vs. Navy at Lejeune Hall.
First-year Karol Mlynarczyk posted another shining effort with a victory in the 100 back in 47.44 seconds, just off his blistering pace from his sensational debut meet last month but still plenty good enough to win the event.
Fellow rookie Marlee Rickert recorded a career-best swim in the 200 back, posting a time of 2:03.29 that puts her at No. 7 on the program's all-time list. The Leesport, Pa., native also led the Buff and Blue in the 50 free and swam a solid opening leg in the 400 free relay.
On the men's side, Zach Hu picked up a win in the 1,000 free in 9:36.26 and also led GW in the 500 free, while Jacob Miller paced the Buff and Blue in both the 50 free and 100 free in his debut with the program. Oscar Madsen (200 free, 200 back) and Eddie Cosic (100 and 200 breast) also led the squad in a pair of events.
Among the women, Andrea Ho led GW in the 100 breast and 200 IM, in addition to being right behind Rickert in the 200 back. Marissa Martin (1,000 free, 500 free), Morgan Birdy (100 & 200 fly) were also tops among the Buff and Blue in a pair of events.
GW is slated to face-off vs. Navy again on Friday and Saturday in a two-day meet in the same pool, aiming to post season-best times for NCAA qualification.
