
Swimming & Diving Celebrates Seniors

Buff & Blue wrapped dual-meet slate vs. Marymount
SPRINGFIELD, Va. - GW swimming and diving completed its final tune-up ahead of next month's Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday evening, facing off vs. Marymount at The St. James.
Following the dual meet, the Buff and Blue honored 10 seniors and two graduate students: Gabriella Arendes, Morgan Birdy, Meghan Burton, Patricia Cerri-Droz, Rachel Dickinson, Andrea Ho, Tali Lemcoff, Marissa Martin, Peter Nachtwey, Emils Pone, Youssef Ragab and Nick Tomczyk.
The program will now ramp up preparations for the rescheduled A-10 Championships, which are set to be held April 14-17 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The women will aim for a repeat conference title, while the men aim to return to the top of the standings with a fourth crown in five seasons.
Men's Highlights
- Karol Mlynarczyk posted a pair of strong 100 back swims, just off his season-best time set at the Cavalier Invitational. The rookie from Warsaw, Poland, led off the 400 medley relay with a split of 47.16 seconds and then won the event in 47.45 seconds.
- Ethan Tulenko led the way in all three freestyle sprints, highlighted by a season-best time in the 200 free of 1:41.86.
- Marek Osina posted a season-best time in the 400 IM (3:57.95) to improve his spot on the program's all-time top 10 list and also recorded a win in the 200 breast (2:02.67).
- Ragab celebrated a Senior Day win in the 100 breast in 58.01 seconds, while Pone landed on top in the 200 fly in 1:49.82.
- DH Hwang (1,000 free), Kaden Schwaiger (100 fly), Josh Legge (500 free) and Ryan Patterson (200 back) also posted individual wins.
- GW's 400 medley relay squad of Mlynarczyk, Osina, Pone and Dylan Arzoni posted a season best time of 3:18.75.
Women's Highlights
- Courtney Sicinski won both breaststroke events, highlighted by a career-best swim in the 100 breast (1:04.61) to improve her mark on the program's all-time top 10 list. The junior also took second in the 200 IM in 2:08.66, just behind teammate Stine Omdahl Petersen (2:07.78).
- First-year Marlee Rickert took both backstroke races, highlighted by a season-best 2:02.69 in the 200 back to move up to sixth place on the program's all-time list.
- Celebrating Senior Day, Ho posted a win in the 200 fly in 2:06.89.
- Erin McCarthy won both the 1,000 free (10:13.33) and 500 free (5:03.80), while Grace Olivardia took first in both the 100 free (:52.93) and 200 free (1:53.30).
- Marissa Brannan won the 50 free in a career-best time of 25.21 seconds.
