Volleyball Visits Rhode Island Saturday

Buff & Blue look for first conference win
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball is back in action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to face Rhode Island at 1:30 p.m.
CAN YOU DIG IT: Junior libero Bella Bowman crossed the 1,000-dig threshold in her career last weekend against La Salle thanks to a phenomenal 36-dig performance on Friday that matched her career-high. Bowman is second in the A-10 with 129 total digs and ranks third with 4.61 per set, good for 76th nationally.
Senior Sydney Welch is approaching the milestone as well, sitting at 954 career digs entering Saturday's matinee.
WELCOME BACK: Sophomore Sarah Pintel made her season debut last weekend against La Salle and showed her progress from her debut season. After appearing in just 22 sets a year ago, Pintel appeared in all eight last week and posted 10 kills in each match, setting a new career-best. She also added a block assist in both matches to set a new career-high with 10.5 points.
ACROSS THE NET: Rhode Island is under the direction of former GW assistant Nicki Holmes, who is off to a 2-4 start (1-0 A-10) in his first year at the helm. Claire Chaplinsky is the primary offensive threat for the Rams, ranking fourth in the A-10 in kills (3.65) and points (4.12) per set. Defensively, Ella Ratzloff posts 4.15 digs per set, ninth-best in the league. GW is 35-38 all-time against URI, winning the last two matchups.
