Explorers' efficient attack dooms GW
WASHINGTON - After an emotionally-draining five-set affair on Friday night, GW and La Salle met less than 24 hours later in the second end of a back-to-back. Saturday would be far less dramatic, though, as the Explorers pulled out a straight-set victory (25-18, 25-21, 25-23).
La Salle controlled the match from the onset, using a strong attack to hit .424 in the opening set and .314 in the second set. The Explorers out-hit GW .246-.173 overall.
The Buff & Blue held their own, hitting over .200 in the first two sets, but were unable to drum up as many opportunities, registering 31 kills to La Salle's 45.
Sophomore Sarah Pintel paced GW with 10 kills, hitting .250. Junior Bella Bowman, who was honored prior to the match for recording her 1,000th career dig on Friday, added 12 more digs to her ledger to lead the defensive effort.
GW returns to action next Saturday with a single match at Rhode Island. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
