GW finishes its season at home next weekend
DAYTON, Ohio – GW volleyball dropped its final road test of the season on Sunday, falling to Dayton in three sets, 13-15, 18-25, 12-25.
Salem Yohannes led the GW attack with five kills and Melody Williams added four. Bella Bowman tallied 18 digs and three different student-athletes registered a block.
Set one saw four ties until the seventh point before Dayton began to create separation. The Flyers stretched their lead to as many as eight at 18-10 and allowed three more GW points before taking set one.
A six-point scoring run helped the Flyers to a 12-5 lead in set two. Despite GW's best offense of the afternoon (eight kills), the Buff & Blue couldn't overcome the deficit and would fall behind 0-2 in the match.
GW was limited to three kills in the final set. After going back-and-forth in the opening stages of set three, Dayton outscored GW 15-4 to earn the match victory and remain unbeaten in conference play.
UP NEXT: GW finishes the regular season at home next weekend, welcoming VCU to Smith Center on Friday (6 p.m.) before hosting Davidson on Sunday for Senior Day (1 p.m.). Â
