GW to host Davidson on Sunday for Senior Day
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball began its final weekend of the season on Friday, falling to VCU in straight sets, 29-31, 12-25, 16-25.
Salem Yohannes paced the GW offense with 10 kills, Paz Dozie-Nnamah tallied eight and Liv Womble chipped in seven.
Behind a four-point scoring run in the early stages of set one, GW maintained an 8-5 lead after three kills from its leading offense. GW went on another scoring run to stretch its established lead to seven before the Rams began their comeback. After seven set points, VCU took the one-set advantage.
After jumping ahead 3-1, the Rams outscored GW 14-2 behind 14 kills in the second set. The Rams held GW to 12 points to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
VCU's best offense came in set three, powered by 20 kills to GW's 11. The Rams never surrendered their lead and would move to 12-3 in conference play.
