
Volleyball Downed by Davidson on Senior Day

Six student-athletes honored in pre-match ceremony
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball concluded its season on Sunday, falling to Davidson in three sets, 19-25, 21-25, 22-25.
Bella Bowman, Paz Dozie-Nnamah, Noelle Dwyer, Lauren LaBeck, Heather Merryman and Melody Williams were recognized as part of Senior Day festivities.
Bowman's 20-dig outing on Sunday brought her GW career total digs to 1,456 for third overall in program history. Bowman cracked the program top 10 on Sept. 25, and since then, has managed to jump seven spots to own the third spot.
Salem Yohannes and MC Daubendiek registered nine kills apiece for a GW offense that tallied 38 kills. Daubendiek's nine earned the Omaha, Neb., native a career-high.
GW and Davidson played evenly in set one, each tallying 10 kills. However, nine Buff & Blue attack errors helped lift the visitors to the one-set advantage.
Set two went back and forth until the final few points, with Davidson scoring four straight to claim the second set. Each team provided its best offense of the match in set two, with GW tallying 15 kills.
GW maintained a three-point advantage to open set three. Davidson took control and never ceded its lead en route to a three-set victory.
