Volleyball Falls at Duquesne

GW to visit Dayton on Sunday at 1 p.m.
PITTSBURGH - GW volleyball played its first of two weekend opponents on Friday night, falling to Duquesne in straight sets, 16-25, 18-25, 19-25.
Liv Womble paced the offense with seven kills, Salem Yohannes added six and MC Daubendiek chipped in five.
Lauren LaBeck tacked on two serving aces to improve her team-leading total to 24. The mark also places LaBeck tenth overall in the A-10.
Three quick kills by the Dukes helped the home team jump ahead to a 5-1 advantage. LaBeck's aces helped GW knot the set at six before Duquesne strung together a six-point scoring run to get within five points of clinching the first set. Four kills helped the home team to a 1-0 set advantage.
GW held a narrow 4-2 advantage in set two after a pair of kills from Womble and two errors by the Dukes. Another mid-set rally by Duquesne saw the Dukes outscore GW 11-2. GW wasn't able to erase the deficit, falling behind 2-0 in the match.
GW's best offense came in set three with 10 kills. The two teams traded points until the 10th point of the third set before the Dukes put together a pair of separate scoring runs to take a 22-15 lead. GW withstood two match points before an attack error helped lift the Dukes to the home court victory.
