Buff & Blue to compete Thursday-Saturday
The meet includes 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving, with the competitors tackling one event per day. The field includes Duke, Penn State, Army, James Madison and UNCW, in addition to the host Wolfpack.
The Buff and Blue have gotten off to a fast start on the boards under first-year Head Diving Coach Christopher Lane, with Jamie Doak leading the way.
Doak qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships with a shining season debut vs. Virginia Tech on Oct. 2 before putting together a record-breaking effort two weeks ago at Pittsburgh.
The junior from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, broke Lynne McCormick's 20-year-old program record on the 1-meter board with her score of 279.23, and she also set a new mark on platform by scoring 210.60. Her personal best on 3-meter of 284.60 came last April when she earned a bronze in her debut at the A-10 Championships.
The meet at Pitt yielded quite a few strong performances for the Buff and Blue. First-year Dara Reyblat posted a career-high score of 271.43 on the 3-meter board there, while junior Caitlin Inall recorded a season-best score of 247.58 on 1-meter.
On the men's side, Spencer Bystrom registered a pair of career-best efforts vs. the Panthers, scoring 284.40 on 1-meter and 244.88 on platform. The junior from Beachwood, Ohio, claimed bronze on the 3-meter board at last spring's A-10 Championship.
