WASHINGTON - GW women's soccer will finish off their regular season with a pair of games this week, starting with a road battle against Duquesne on Thursday at 7 p.m. before returning to D.C. on Sunday to host Davidson at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Buff & Blue put forth a dominant effort at home against Saint Joseph's, winning 2-0. Alicia Window scored the game-winning goal for GW, while Erica Lorenzana made five saves for the team's first clean sheet of the season.
SENIOR DAY SENDOFF: Sunday's home game against Davidson will mark the final regular-season contest for six Colonials. Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky, Kelly Amador, Erica Lorenzana, Maria Pareja, Beth Ellinport and Madi Coyne will all be honored in an on-field ceremony before the match.
ROOKIE AWARD RECOGNITION: This week, Alicia Window was named A-10 Rookie of the Week. The honor, which comes on the heels of a week that saw Window score three goals, is the first of her career. Window is also the first Colonial rookie to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week since Alexis Williams took home the honor in 2017. That season, Williams finished with four goals and 11 points en route to making the A-10 All-Rookie team.
DISSECTING THE DUKES: Duquesne enters Thursday's game at 4-8-2 and 2-5-1 in A-10 play. Their most recent match was a 2-1 loss against Rhode Island. The Dukes took an early lead in the contest thanks to Hannah Nguyen's third goal of the season, but Rhode Island scored two unanswered to hand Duquesne the loss. The Dukes' leading scorer is first-year Emma Bundy, who currently has five goals and 12 points on the year.
WHAT'S UP WITH THE WILDCATS: Davidson is 4-9-2 on the season, but is currently winless in the conference through their first seven games. Offensively, the Wildcats' have had a plethora of contributors, with four different players having scored two goals. Meanwhile, Mary Grace Bunch has started 13 games in goal for the Wildcats, and currently owns a .883 goals-against average, good enough for fourth among A-10 goalkeepers.
