Buff and Blue edged by LMU on Saturday
LOS ANGELES - GW men's water polo closed out its trip to the West Coast on Saturday with a 13-8 setback at No. 19 Loyola Marymount.
Antonin Kralj and Nick Schroeder scored two goals apiece to pace the Buff and Blue, who went 1-2 over two days on their quick trip across the country.
GW and LMU went back and forth in the early going at Burns Aquatic Center. Viktor Jovanovic's goal with 4:29 left in the opening half tied the game at 5.
From there, the Lions created separation with a 6-0 burst that included three scores to end the second quarter and three more coming out of the halftime break. The Buff and Blue went nearly 10 minutes between goals during the decisive run.
In addition to the offense from Kralj, Schroeder and Jovanovic, Henry Maas, Kalan Smith and Andrija Sekulic found the net vs. LMU.
Luca Castorina finished with eight saves and a pair of steals in the GW net.
The Buff and Blue return to Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play next weekend with a trip to New York City for a Saturday doubleheader that takes them to Fordham and Wagner.
