Levai posted three goals, three assists vs. Bison
WASHINGTON - GW men's water polo dropped a 14-10 decision to Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at Smith Center Pool.
After a back-and-forth opening half, the visiting Bison created separation in the third quarter and pulled out the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference victory.
Andras Levai notched three goals and three assists to pace the GW offense and increase his team-leading point total to 63.
GW built a two-goal lead early in the second quarter before Bucknell moved in front at 7-6 in the final minute of the opening half. After the Buff and Blue equalized on Andrija Sekulic's goal with 36 seconds left before intermission, Bucknell came out of the break with four straight goals to seize control.
GW rallied within 11-10 on Viktor Jovanovic's goal with 2:30 to play, but the Bison countered with back-to-back scores from Doruk Ozar in quick succession to restore their cushion and ultimately were able to close out a four-goal victory.
In addition to the six-point effort from Levai, GW got three goals apiece from Sekulic and Jovanovic. Nick Schroeder chipped in a goal, two assists and a team-high three steals, and Antonin Kralj added three helpers.
Luca Castorina recorded seven saves and three steals in the GW net vs. the Bison.
UP NEXT: GW has a break from competition next weekendbefore heading to Navy on Friday, Oct. 29, and then visiting Mount St. Mary's two days later.
