Alicia Window scores a pair for the Buff & Blue
DAYTON, Ohio- Alicia Window tallied her first career brace just minutes into the match, but GW women's soccer was unable to withstand a strong second-half effort by Dayton's offense, falling 4-2 at Baujan Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-1st Minute: It took Window just 12 seconds to find the back of the net, as she powered into the box and beat goalkeeper Madelyn Dewey for the Buff & Blue's first goal.
- 2nd Minute: Just over a minute later, the Colonial offense swarmed Dewey, and Window found the back of the net for her second goal of the game and third of the season.
-47th Minute: Dayton came out of halftime with a resurgence, peppering Tamaki Machi with shots before Laney Huber was able to put a ball past the Colonials' keeper. Diana Beningo assisted on the Flyers' first goal.
-64th Minute: Dayton tied the game after Alicia Donley was able to beat Machi with a one-time shot from five yards out. Donley's goal was set up by a cross from Noel Blain.
-66th Minute: Dayton's third goal was scored from the penalty spot by Itala Gemelli. The penalty was awarded after Tamaki Machi was called for a foul while attempting to beat Gemelli to a loose ball in the box.
-83rd Minute: Gemelli scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Laney Huber.
NOTEWORTHY
- Window's brace marked the first time this season that a GW student-athlete has had a multi-goal game.
- Window now has three goals on the year to lead all GW scorers.
- In addition to finding the back of the net, Window also led the team in shots. It is the first time in seven games that a student-athlete other than Kelly Amador or Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky has paced the Buff & Blue offense.
