A RARE STOP AT HOME: Sunday's contest is the only home game for GW in its first eight league games. Beginning Dec. 31, GW is scheduled to spend 11 of 25 days on the road, including a pair of four-day road swings and two day trips to Richmond. The five-game conference road trip is the first in GW's A-10 history, dating back to the league's creation in 1983. GW has not had a road trip of four conference games since 2006-07.
FIRST YEAR, NO FEAR: With Caranda Perea's 10-point performance last week at Fordham, all three GW first-years have recorded a double-figure scoring effort this season. The trio - also including Ali Brigham and Aurea Gingras - accounts for 20.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg and 3.3 apg. Perea (50.0%), Brigham (46.8%) and Gingras (35.6%) are also three of the team's top four shooters by field goal percentage.
A LOOK AT THE FLYERS: Dayton entered 2020-21 as the defending A-10 regular season and tournament champions, going 15-1 in league play before winning the conference championship on its home floor. The Flyers were projected to finish second this season. UD played just two non-conference games on Nov. 25 and Dec. 6 before returning to action after nearly a month and defeating St. Bonaventure and Duquesne last weekend to start league play 2-0. The Flyers still boast their typical stingy defense, allowing only 47.5 ppg last weekend in their two wins.
Redshirt senior Erin Whalen has shouldered most of the scoring load for UD this year, putting in 18.3 ppg, which is fourth in the A-10. Two other redshirt seniors - Araion Bradshaw and Jenna Giacone - chip in 8.8 ppg a piece, with the trio accounting for 54% of the team's scoring output so far this year.
