Colonials set four school records at conference meet
KINGSTON, R.I. - After a history-making cross country season, senior Suzanne Dannheim once again rewrote the record book at the A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning a pair of conference titles to accentuate GW's performance at the conference meet.
Dannheim became the first female gold medal winner for the Colonials at the indoor meet since Halley Brown (mile) and Miranda DiBlasio (5k) won their respective events in 2017, and the first GW female to win multiple conference titles at a single meet. For her efforts, Dannheim was named A-10 Track Athlete of the Meet, becoming the first Colonial to ever win the award.
She started her weekend on Saturday by setting not only a school record, but a conference record in the 5000m. Her time of 16:20.52 topped the previous A-10-best, which had stood since 2014, by seven seconds.
Dannheim then followed it up on Sunday with a victory in the 3000m, helping lead the GW women to a ninth-place team finish.
Junior Kathryn Nohilly also scored points for the women's team with a fourth place finish in the mile while classmate Margaret Coogan placed fifth in the 3000m. The women's DMR team of Nohilly, Coogan, Ameena Benselloum and Brittany Wilkinson broke the school record by 15 seconds and posted the program's best-ever finish in the event by coming in fourth.
On the men's side, graduate student Wesley Robinson shined with a school record performance on Saturday in the 5000m, finishing third in the event. Robinson came back on Sunday to earn more points for the Colonials by finishing second in the 3000m.
First-year Miles Grant gave GW four school records on the weekend with his mark of 1.90m in the high jump, good for 10th place. The team finished 10th overall, as well.
