GW program welcomes Mikaylah at Team IMPACT Draft Day ceremony
WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball is proud to announce the signing of 10-year-old Mikaylah Poole to a Letter of Intent, becoming an official teammate of the Colonials at her Draft Day ceremony.
Mikaylah and the Colonials were brought together by Boston-headquartered national nonprofit Team IMPACT, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing serious and chronic illnesses through the power of team.
Mikaylah hails from nearby Clinton, Md. and is courageously battling Crohn's Disease. On Friday at the Champions Club inside the Charles E. Smith Center, joined by head coach Jennifer Rizzotti, the 2019-20 Colonials and special guests in the GW Athletic Department, Mikaylah was presented with a team shirt and took questions from the gathering in her official press conference welcome to the Buff & Blue.
As a member of the team through Team IMPACT, Mikaylah will attend Colonials practices, games, team dinners, events and various team functions. She will be in attendance on Sunday and honored in-game while GW takes on District rival Georgetown at 2 p.m.
