Men's Soccer Falls to Dayton in Regular Season Finale

Colonials edged by Flyers, 2-1
WASHINGTON -- The George Washington men's soccer team saw its regular season come to a close on Saturday evening, falling to Dayton, 2-1.
Despite playing neck-and-neck with the Flyers in the first half, Dayton was able to break the deadlock in the game's second stanza with a strike at the 71st minute. The Colonials didn't take long to respond, with Colin Anderson scoring the equalizer to put GW back even. Dayton, however, continued to press on attack and found the back of the net once more in the 87th minute to cement the 2-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPEND:
• 71st Minute - After rattling off 11 shots in the opening minutes of the second half, the Flyers were finally able to break through the Buff and Blue defense with a goal from Elias Harryson. UD 1, GW 0
• 79th Minute — Just eight minutes later, the Colonials evened the score with a strike from Colin Anderson. The goal marked his second of the season. GW 1, UD 1
• 87th Minute — The back-and-forth battle continued between the two squads until the Flyers were able to get back on top with a goal from Kingsford Adjel. UD 2, GW 1
NOTEWORTHY
• GW and Dayton were close to even in shots at the conclusion of the first half, with the Colonials firing off five and the Flyers recording six of their own. Dayton came out hot in the second half and added 18 more shots to their total to finish the day with the 24-8 advantage.
• Keeper Noah Lubin made eight stops between the posts, including six in the game's second stanza.
• Tom Cooklin paced the Buff and Blue with his two shots on the night, while six other Colonials contributed to the offensive effort with one shot apiece.
