Volleyball Moves to 3-0 in A-10 Play with Sweep of La Salle

Colonials off to best conference start since 2015 after second straight road win
PHILADELPHIA -Â GW volleyball completed its second sweep of the weekend on Sunday, brooming La Salle in short order to move to 3-0 in Atlantic 10 play. The start is the best against league foes since 2015 when GW picked up nine conference wins and advanced to the league semifinals.

Key Stats
• The Colonials featured a balanced attack Sunday with four student-athletes recording at least five kills. Senior Jordan Young topped the squad with 10 kills in 26 swings, hitting .308.
• Senior Jaimeson Lee notched a double-double with 30 assists and 10 digs. Classmate Skylar Iott and sophomore Bella Bowman led the Buff & Blue back line with 12 digs apiece.
• Graduate student Paty Valle racked up eight kills and a team-high five block assists while classmate Caroline Sklaver hit .364 with five kills.
• GW held the edge in most statistical categories: kills (36-32), attack percentage (.158-.079), assists (32-31), digs (49-41) and blocks (7.0-4.0).

Set 1: GW 25, La Salle 19
• A 4-0 spurt from the Colonials midway through the set broke open a nip-and-tuck affair as GW earned some breathing room at 20-15. Valle finished off the set with a kill to earn the early advantage.
• Young paced the Buff & Blue with four kills as the Colonials took advantage of seven Explorer service errors to aid the triumph.

• The Buff & Blue never trailed in the frame, leading by as many as 10 (21-11) thanks to a 7-1 run that was spearheaded by back-to-back blocks.
• Thanks in part to the prevalent blocking, GW held La Salle to .000 with nine attack errors. The Colonials hit .179 with 11 kills to their ledger.

• Much like Friday, GW had to come from behind in the third set to finish off the sweep. Trailing by five, 16-11, a kill from Valle sparked a 8-1 burst that put GW ahead 19-17.
• The Explorers evened the match at 24 before a kill from Young and an attack error secured the Colonial sweep.
