Levai and Mavis contribute multiple goals
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW men's water polo was unable to overcome a strong start at the Naval Academy on Friday night, ultimately falling to the Midshipmen, 14-8 in MAWPC play.
The Colonials (16-7, 5-2 MAWPC) trailed 4-2 after a quarter of play before allowing eight of the next 10 goals to fall behind 12-4. GW ran off three straight goals to close within five in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.
Andras Levai led the Colonials attack with three goals while Andrew Mavis contributed two goals, an assist and three ejections drawn.
GW will have a chance at payback next weekend (Nov. 2-3) as they host Navy in addition to Johns Hopkins at the St. James in Springfield, Va., to open a four-game MAWPC homestand.
