No. 14 Men's Squash Tops Virginia, 8-1

WASHINGTON - The No. 14 George Washington men's squash team won its fifth match of the season with an 8-1 triumph over visiting Virginia on Tuesday night at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
The match was tightly contested with the Colonials only taking three of their eight wins in three games.
Freshman Jamie Oakley battled through a grueling opening two games before clinching an 11-9, 18-16, 11-3 win over Mason Blake at No. 1.
Freshman Juan Sebastian Laguna also prevailed in a sweep with a quick 11-7, 11-6, 11-6 win over Grayson Bubrobsky.
Junior Billy Berner provided the third sweep of the night with a 12-10, 11-7, 11-7 triumph over Justin Shah at No. 6.
Junior John Bassett provided a key win at No. 8 when he erased a 2-1 deficit to rally for an 11-7, 9-11, 5-11, 11-7, 12-10 win over James Dudzik.
At No. 2, junior Oisin Logan won his seventh game of the season with a four-game win over Toby Hansford. Logan went up 2-0 with wins of 11-7 and 11-4, before falling in the third game, 11-8. He rebounded to complete the win with an 11-5 win in the fourth.
Sophomore Moudy Abdel-Maksoud (3-1 at No. 3), senior Andres de Frutos (3-1 at No. 4) and sophomore Omar Mussehl (3-1 at No. 7) rounded out the victory for the Colonials, who are now 1-1 on their current four-match homestand.
GW returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Franklin and Marshall at the Grossman Squash Courts at 1 p.m.
