WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's squash team will face six teams that finished last season in the top ten of the final College Squash Association (CSA) National Poll, including a home date with defending National Champion Yale, as part of its 14-match regular season schedule in 2016-17, head coach Wendy Lawrence has announced.
GW concluded the 2015-16 season with a final national ranking of No. 11, the highest end-of-season ranking in program history. The Colonials welcome back eight newcomers for this season and have added a trio of international student-athletes as the program looks to break into the Potter Cup (A-Division) of the CSA National Championship for the first time in team history.
In addition to hosting reigning National Champion Yale on January 28, the Colonials will clash with top-10 programs at No. 5 Pennsylvania (Nov. 19), No. 8 Columbia (Dec. 4), No. 4 St. Lawrence (Jan. 21) and No. 10 Cornell (Jan. 22). GW also hosts No. 9 Drexel on February 10.
GW opens its 2016-17 campaign against Georgetown on November 11 at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center. Additional home matches include meetings with No. 18 Williams (Jan. 14), No. 14 Navy (Jan. 18), No. 19 Virginia (Jan. 31) and No. 13 Franklin & Marshall (Feb. 4).
