
No. 10 GW Men's Squash Splits Weekend Matches

WASHINGTON - The No. 10 George Washington men's squash team concluded the regular season by splitting a pair of matches this weekend. The Colonials fell at No. 11 Franklin & Marshall on Friday evening before rebounding with a 9-0 win over Johns Hopkins on Saturday at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
GW (12-6) traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for Friday's clash with No. 11 Franklin & Marshall. Sophomore Oisin Logan earned a 3-0 sweep at No. 2 over Sean Kenny, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8. He was joined in the win column by senior Reid Breck, who was an 8-11, 11-3, 15-13, 11-5 winner over Ricardo Machado at No. 8, and sophomore John Bassett, who prevailed, 11-6, 11-5, 11-9, over Mykhalio Sorochev at No. 9.
The Colonials rebounded for a resounding 9-0 win on Senior Day on Saturday at the Grossman Squash Courts. The Colonials won each of the seven matches contested in three games and picked up an additional two victories via forfeit.
Breck and fellow senior James Reiss each were victorious in the final home match of their careers. Breck battled for an 11-4, 12-10, 11-1 win over Jack McNulty at No. 5, while Reiss cruised to a dominant 11-4, 11-1, 11-1 sweep over Stefan Reichenstein at No. 3.
Also picking up wins for the Colonials on Saturday were Logan, Bassett, junior Andres de Frutos, sophomore Billy Berner and junior Josh Marks.
GW will be idle next weekend in preparation of the upcoming College Squash Association (CSA) National Championships, Feb. 26-28, in New Haven, Connecticut. Seeding and matchups will be announced in the coming weeks.
