No. 11 Men's Squash Splits Final Fall Weekend

WASHINGTON - The No. 11 George Washington men's squash team split in its final matches of the fall schedule this weekend, earning a 6-3 win over Virginia on Friday before a 9-0 setback at No. 7 Columbia on Sunday.
GW wins in the top three positions of the ladder helped build towards a 6-3 win over Virginia on Friday night in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Freshman Jamie Oakley led the way at the No. 1 position with an 11-8, 11-9, 11-7 sweep over Toby Hansford to set the tone.
Junior Oisin Logan picked up a 3-1 win over Mason Blake at No. 2. Logan won the first game in extra points, 12-10, but Blake rallied to tie the match in the second game. Logan rebounded and cruised with an 11-4 win in the third and 11-2 win in the fourth to clinch the 3-1 win.
Senior Andres de Frutos earned an easy win No. 3 with an 11-7, 11-6, 11-3 win against Jarett Odrich.
Junior Billy Berner erased an early 2-0 deficit and stormed back to take a 3-2 win over Grayson Bubrosky at No. 5 - 6-11, 4-11, 11-1, 11-9, 11-7.
Senior Nicolas Valderrama returned from injury to earn his first win of the season, an 11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-8 triumph over Justin Shah at No. 7, and junior John Bassett provided the decisive victory with a 12-10, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6 win over James Dudzik at No. 8.
On Sunday, Columbia won eight matches in three games and took the ninth win by default to earn the win over the Colonials.
