LEADING OFF: The No. 11 George Washington men's squash team will compete in its final matches of the fall semester when it travels to face Virginia (Fri., 6 p.m.) and Columbia (Sun., 12 p.m.) this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT: GW competed in its first road matches of the 2016-17 season two weeks ago with a 9-0 loss at No. 6 Penn and an 8-1 setback at No. 12 Princeton. Junior Billy Berner picked up the lone win of the weekend for the Colonials in a five-set win against Princeton.
Berner leads the Colonials with a pair of victories on the young season.
LOOK AHEAD: GW will be idle from competition for winter recess before returning to action on January 14 when it hosts No. 18 Williams at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts. In the meantime, GW will spend a week in the Cayman Islands for its annual Winter Training trip.
LAST TIME VS. VIRGINIA: GW downed the Cavaliers, 7-2, last season in a visit to Charlottesville. Sophomore Moudy Abdel-Maksoud, senior Josh Marks and juniors Omar Mussehl and John Bassett each earned victories to contribute to the Colonials' win.
LAST TIME VS. COLUMBIA: Last season's meeting was cancelled due to a winter storm in the northeast. Prior to the cancellation, the last meeting was in January 2015, an 8-1 win in Washington, D.C. for the then-No. 3 ranked Lions.
