No. 13 GW Men's Squash Sweeps Weekend Road Trip

WASHINGTON - The No. 13 George Washington men's squash team picked up three wins this weekend as it swept its way through a Massachusetts road trip, downing No. 13 Williams, No. 17 Bates and No. 23 Western Ontario.
GW (9-3) opened its road trip on Saturday morning by picking up the program's first-ever win over No. 18 Williams, 6-3. The top three on the ladder, freshman Moudy Abdel-Maksoud, sophomore Oisin Logan and junior Andres de Frutos, each picked up wins in the same match for the seventh time this season. The Colonials also got winning efforts from junior Nicolas Valderrama, senior Reid Breck and sophomore Billy Berner to clinch the victory.
GW narrowly defeated No. 17 Bates, 5-4, in the nightcap on Sunday. de Frutos, junior Nicolas Valderrama, freshman Juan Pablo Mejia, Breck and Berner provided the wins as the Colonials concluded Saturday with their third consecutive win.
On Sunday, GW easily dispatched of No. 23 Western Ontario, 9-0, to run its streak to four in a row. The Colonials won eight of nine matches in three games, with the top three on the ladder winning for the eighth time this season.
With three wins this weekend, Breck is now in sole possession of second place on GW's career-wins list with 46. He needs 12 wins to tie all-time leader Omar Sobhy's (2009-13) record of 58 victories.
GW returns home to host No. 20 Colby on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
