
GW Squash Concludes Season at CSA Individual Nationals

WASHINGTON - Six George Washington squash student-athletes competed this past weekend at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual National Championships at Princeton University's Jadwin Squash Courts.
On the women's side, junior Anna Gabriela Porras and sophomore Breanne Flynn each competed in the Ramsay Cup (A-Division), which features individuals ranked 1-32 in the latest CSA Individual rankings. Senior Alejandra Porras competed in the Holleran Cup (B-Division).
Anna Porras won her opening game, 3-0, over Issey Norman-Ross of Yale University before being eliminated in a 3-1 loss to Olivia Fiecther of Princeton. The Bogota, Colombia, native concluded her season with a 3-1 loss to Harvard's Alyssa Mehta in the consolation bracket.
Flynn fell, 3-0, to Laila Samy of Wesleyan in the opening round before a 3-0 loss in the consolation bracket to Shihui Mao of Princeton.
Alejandra Porras had a first-round bye in the opening round of the Holleran Cup (B-Division) and then won a 3-1 decision over Charlotte Dewey of Middlebury. She concluded her carer with a 3-0 loss to Natalie Babjukova of Trinity in the consolation bracket round of 32.
On the men's side, freshman Mason Ripka made the deepest run of the GW student-athletes competing. He lost in his opening-round match of the Pool Trophy (A-Division), 3-0, to Samuel Kang of Princeton. He advanced via default into the consolation quarterfinals where he picked up a 3-0 sweep over Cole Osborn of Franklin & Marshall. Ripka then battled, but fell in four sets, 3-1, to Neil Cordell of Rochester in the consolation semifinals.
Freshman Oisin Logan had a first-round bye into the second round of the Malloy Cup (B-Division) where he prevailed, 3-2 over Pierson Broadwater of Yale. Logan then took a 3-2 loss to Kevin Chen of Williams in the round of 32.
Sophomore Andres de Frutos also had a first-round bye in the Malloy Cup and then lost, 3-0, to eventual Malloy Cup champion Ibrahim Baker of Drexel. In the consolation bracket, de Frutos fell, 3-0, to William Mohr of Rochester.
