No. 8 GW Women's Squash Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader

WASHINGTON - The No. 8 George Washington women's squash team concluded its regular-season schedule with a doubleheader sweep of No. 15 Drexel and Virginia on Saturday afternoon at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
GW (9-6) concludes the regular season on a four-match win streak ahead of next weekend's College Squash Association (CSA) National Championships at Harvard University.
The Colonials defeated No. 15 Drexel, 6-3, in the first match of the afternoon before sweeping Virginia, 9-0, in the nightcap.
Against Drexel, the Colonials won three matches in straight sets at Nos. 2, 8 and 9. Sophomore Breanne Flynn won 11-6, 11-5, 11-9 over Ryan Morgan at No. 2, while junior Alexa Tzarnas (12-10, 11-7, 11-9) and freshman Lakshimi Settipali (12-10, 11-6, 11-8) controlled the bottom of the ladder at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
Junior Anna Gabriela Porras picked up a win at No. 1 over Haley Hughes, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, while her sister, senior Alejandra Porras, prevailed at No. 3, 11-5, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8 over Mary Fung-A-Fat.
Junior Emely Levyn earned GW's sixth win, outlasting Kiran Vausdevan at No. 7, 12-10, 8-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-8.
GW won all nine matches against Virginia in straight sets, yielding an average of just 4.8 points per set.
Final regular-season rankings and the official draw for next weekend's CSA National Championship will be revealed early next week. The Colonials are looking to compete in the Howe Cup (A-Division) for the first time in program history.
