GW Men's Track Excels at Wesley Brown Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington men's track team recorded seven top-five finishes on Saturday afternoon at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
GW's best event of the day was the mile, where the Colonials placed three runners in the top five. Freshman Ryan DePinto took second in 4:25.57 and was followed by sophomore Ryan Pantalone in 4:41.25. Freshman Jack McCabe placed fifth in 4:53.30.
In the 800-meter run, freshman Carter Day finished third in a field of 13 competitors with a mark of 1:58.38, his second-best time of the season. Freshman Luke Dublirer followed in fourth with a time of 1:58.41. Senior Rob Craven took eighth in 2:00.46.
Junior Ryan Tucker was GW's top finisher in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 15:14.37 to place fifth. Seniors John-Louis Pane and Tyler Gillies finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth place, respectively. Pane finished in 15:54.56 while Gillies followed in 16:12.97.
The all-freshmen distance medley relay of Chris Shaffer, Joseph Verghese, Day and Dublirer finished in third with a final mark of 10:47.12.
GW travels to Boston, Massachusetts, next weekend to compete in the Scarlet & White Invitational at Boston University.
