WASHINGTON - The George Washington squash program will send six student-athletes to this weekend's College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships in Philadelphia.
The Kurtz Cup (B-Division) Champion women's team will send three players - sophomores Anna Gabriela Porras and Alejandra Porras and freshman Breanne Flynn - while the men's team will have the freshman duo of Andres de Frutos and Nicolas Valderrama as well as sophomore James Reiss compete.
National individual rankings are used to seed two brackets. On the women's side, the top 32 individuals will compete in the Ramsay Cup while players ranked 33-80 compete in the Holleran Cup.
Anna Gabriela Porras enters the weekend ranked No. 17 in the nation and Flynn is ranked No. 29. Both will compete in the Ramsay Cup while Alejandra Porras (No. 56) will enter the Holleran Cup.
On the men's side, de Frutos (No. 44), Valderrama (No. 56) and Reiss (No. 80) will all compete in the Malloy Cup bracket.
The squash program has produced one individual national champion in its history. Omar Sobhy ('13) won the Malloy Cup (B-Division) Championship at the conclusion of the 2010-11 season.
