NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The No. 20 George Washington men's squash team will face No. 21 Bowdoin in the opening round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Summers Cup (C-Division) Championship on Friday evening at 4:45 p.m. at Harvard's Murr Athletic Center.
In addition to GW and Bowdoin, the Summers Cup bracket features No. 17 Middlebury, No. 18 Wesleyan, No. 19 Brown, No. 22 Amherst, No. 23 Colby and No. 24 Hamilton. The Colonials hold a 1-2 record against the field this season.
The Colonials upset then No. 19 Bowdoin, 5-4, at the Yale Round Robin on January 26. GW used a pair of five-set victories and won the top five matches on the ladder to secure the victory.
GW also faced Bowdoin back in the 2010-11 postseason, defeating the Polar Bears en route to the program's first ever national championship.
Sophomore Reid Breck leads the Colonials with a 10 individual victories while the trio of freshmen Andres de Frutos, Nicolas Valderrama and sophomore James Reiss each have eight wins apiece. Freshman Josh Marks has posted seven wins in his debut season.
