No. 8 GW Women's Squash Falls in Doubleheader

ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 8 George Washington women's squash team fell in a doubleheader to a pair of higher-ranked teams on Saturday at the Belkin International Squash Courts. The Colonials lost to No. 6 Cornell, 9-0, and No. 7 Stanford, 6-3.
Junior Anna Gabriela Porras and senior Alejandra Porras were the only GW players to not lose in straight sets in the 9-0 loss to Cornell in Saturday's first match. Anna Porras won the first set before faltering to Danielle Letourneau at No. 1, 12-10, 7-11, 5-11, 0-11, while her sister fell at No. 3 to Rachel Scherman, 11-8, 8-11, 12-14, 7-11.
Anna Gabriela Porras bounced back in the nightcap against Stanford, earning a 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5 win at No. 1 over Zanra Ho.
Also notching wins against Stanford were junior Eunice Tan and freshman Abby Shonrock. Tan won an extended first set before cruising to a 15-13, 11-5, 11-0 sweep over Sarah Haig at No. 5 while Shonrock rallied from a 2-1 deficit to clinch a 5-11, 14-12, 11-8, 4-11, 11-5 win over Carolyn Gillette at No. 6.
GW returns to action with its third consecutive match against a top-10 opponent when it visits No. 5 Princeton on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
