PRINCETON, NJ- The No. 16-ranked George Washington women's squash team will compete in the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Nationals at Princeton University, February 18-20. The Colonials, the 2010 Walker Cup Champions (C Division), have moved up to the Kurtz Cup (B Division) and will face No. 9 Brown in the first round on Friday morning at 11:30 am.
GW (12-6) concluded their regular season this past Sunday, falling to No. 9-ranked Brown, 9-0. The Colonials were without two of the regulars as freshman Jackie Shea (illness) and Kyung Min Kim (academic obligations) were unable to participate. Both will be in the lineup for Friday's rematch.
Shea is tied with freshman Kelly Barnes for the most individual victories on the season with 12 victories from the top ladder spot. Min Kim has also been productive in her debut season at GW, totaling 11 victories on the season at the No. 7 thru No. 9 spots on the ladder.
Last season, GW won the Walker Cup, defeating St. Lawrence, Wesleyan and Vassar on the way to the first championship in program history.
The College Squash Association Team Nationals are broken up into four divisions, the Howe Cup (No. 1 - No. 8 in CSA Rankings), Kurtz Cup (No. 9 - No. 16), Walker Cup (No. 17-24) and the Epps Cup (No. 25 - No. 32).
