GW Squash Cruises Past Hamilton, Northeastern

CLINTON, NY -The No. 17 George Washington men's squash team opened their final road trip of the season with a doubleheader sweep of No. 24 Hamilton and Northeastern on Saturday afternoon. The No. 16-ranked women's team also recorded a victory, beating No. 18 Hamilton 6-3.
The men's team defeated Hamilton 7-2, winning the top-four games on the ladder, using straight set victories from sophomores Islam El-Fiky, Omar Sobhy and senior Mike Bower. Junior Adam Pistel used four games to defeat Henry Lee 13-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-2.
Also recording straight set victories for GW were junior Brett Feldman, sophomore Player Haynes and freshman Larkin Brinkworth.
The men's team (15-6) also defeated Northeastern for the second time this season, 9-0. The two teams met back on November 12 as GW cruised to a 8-1 victory.
The No. 16-ranked women's team was also in action on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 18 Hamilton 6-3.
The Colonials faced tough competition in the top-two ladder positions, as freshmen Jackie Shea and Kelly Barnes both needed five games to secure victories.
Juniors Lauren Mathieu and Caroline Shumway, senior Tiffany Hingley and freshman Maya Nair also tallied victories for GW (12-5).
Both the men and women will close out the regular season tomorrow afternoon in Providence, RI when they visit Brown. Brown's men's team is ranked No. 12 and the women's team is ranked No. 9.
