WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's and men's soccer teams will be "Kickin' It at the Vern" this Friday and Saturday at Mount Vernon Field, with appearances by George the mascot, a chance to win prizes, and a tailgate at each match.
Both weekend soccer matches will feature a halftime tailgate with free hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and drinks for those in attendance. Halftime will also feature contests with George the mascot for the chance to win a GW Spirit pack, including a GW T-shirt and other fun fan-necessities.
The regionally ranked GW women's soccer team (5-3-0) aims for its fourth straight victory and sixth win in seven matches when it hosts Gardner-Webb University in a battle of GW versus GWU on Friday at 4:00 pm. The Colonials are tied for 10th in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Mid-Atlantic regional rankings
The Office of the Dean of Freshman will co-host Friday's tailgate for all freshmen and although members of the Class of 2014 are particularly encouraged to attend, other students, GW staff and faculty, as well as members of the Foxhall community are also invited.
On Saturday, the GW men's soccer team (1-5-0) looks to snap a three-match losing skid when it welcomes the University of the District of Columbia to Mount Vernon at 3:00 pm. Students are encouraged to join the men's soccer team's student supporters - The J St. Hooligans - to cheer on the Colonials against the Firebirds. Mount Vernon Campus Life and the GW Spirit Program will offer a tailgate at this event for all fans in attendance.
