Colonials Fall 2-0 to ODU Today in Exhibition Match

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's soccer team fell to Old Dominion 2-0, today in the Colonials' first exhibition match of the preseason at Mount Vernon Field.
Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe put in a scoreless first half in goal for the Colonials, making six saves. Newcomer Cara Cadigan posted a shot on goal for GW, as did Kristen Slack and Clare Roche.
In the second half, GW tested out some new combinations on the field, and the Monarchs took advantage, putting two headers in the goal off of corner kicks.
Senior forward Ashley Starks got two shots off in the second half. Cadigan added a second, while Jillian Morgan also put a shot up.
GW's final preseason scrimmage takes place Saturday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. against George Mason in Fairfax, Va.
The Colonials open the 2010 season against Georgetown on Aug.27, at 3:00 p.m. on the Hoyas' North Kehoe Field.
