WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington men's and women's soccer teams will be "Kickin' It at the Vern" this Friday during a soccer doubleheader at Mount Vernon Field, with free food, appearances by the GW mascots and First Ladies dance team, contests and a $200 cash prize courtesy of Colonials Challenge for the student group wearing the most Buff.
Friday's action kicks-off with the men's soccer team hosting Xavier at 12:30 pm, followed by the women's soccer team battling St. Bonaventure at approximately 3:00 pm. Both teams will be vying for an important three points in their quests to secure spots in the Atlantic 10 Championship next month.
Along with the free food and Colonials Challenge cash prize, fans will have the chance to participate in contests to win Spirit Gift Packs full of GW merchandise, including T-shirts, hats and restaurant gift certificates.
GW soccer will also host a doubleheader at Mount Vernon Field on Sunday, with the women celebrating Senior Day against Duquesne at 11:00 am and the men hosting defending A-10 champion Dayton at 2:00 pm.
Sunday's women's match also is the first "GW Women's Athletics Thinks Pink" event of the year. All Colonials women's teams that host events in 2009-10 will sponsor a pink game, and all 12 squads are pre-selling "GW Women's Athletics Thinks Pink" T-shirts to unite in the fight against breast cancer.
