No. 20/17 GW Tops Charlotte Behind Beck, Lawrence

WASHINGTON, DC (AP) - Kimberly Beck had 19 points and 11 assists and No. 20/17 George Washington snapped Charlotte's seven-game winning streak with a 76-54 victory over the 49ers on Saturday.
The victory moved George Washington (16-4, 4-1 Atlantic 10) into a tie for first place with Charlotte (13-8, 4-1).
Sarah-Jo Lawrence added 13 points and 10 rebounds as all five George Washington starters scored in double figures.
The victory was the 498th of George Washington coach Joe McKeown's career.
Erin Floyd scored 14 points and Shannon McCallum added 10 for the 49ers, who committed 23 turnovers.
Beck directed a George Washington offense that had little trouble getting the ball inside for many high-percentage shots. The Colonials scored 40 of their 76 points in the paint.
George Washington shot 59 percent (20-for-34) in the first half and raced out to a 49-24 halftime advantage.
The 49ers scored the first basket of the game, but never led again. George Washington broke the game open with an 18-3 run for a 33-13 lead with just under eight minutes left.
NOTES: Kimberly Beck's double-double was the fifth of her career, while Sarah-Jo Lawrence had her second career double-double ... It marked the second time two GW players posted double-doubles in the same game this season. Jessica Adair (18p/11r) and Beck (16p/10a) accomplished the feat against South Dakota State on Nov. 23, 2007 ... GW improved to 10-1 at home this season, marking the 18th consecutive season the program has posted 10-or-more home victories.
