Men's Squash Wins the Vassar Team Challenge

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -The George Washington men's squash team, ranked #31 nationally, took home the Vassar Team Challenge title over the weekend. The Colonials won all three of the matches in which they participated, including a victory over the host-school Vassar, a team ranked 30th in the country.
GW opened their weekend play with a 9-0 shutout of Bard. The Colonials won all of their matches against the Raptors by a 3-0 score, including the demo match. Alex Funk and Stefan Georg took both of their contests without allowing a single point to their opponents.
In their second match, the Colonials took down Columbia University in a close match, 5-4. The Lions took the opening match before GW rebounded and won the next five consecutive matches to claim the victory. In the final match of the weekend, GW faced-off against Vassar and downed the host 7-2. The Colonials improved their overall record to 6-8.
George Washington will look to extend its season-best four-match winning streak on Friday, February 9, when they host Virginia at 5:00 PM. The match will be held in the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
