COLLINGSWOOD, NJ - The George Washington men's rowing squad had a strong finish to the season at the 103rd Annual National Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) championship regatta on the Cooper River in Collingswood, NJ. The event began with preliminary heats on Thursday and concluded with finals on Saturday. The weather was overcast with scattered rain showers throughout the weekend.
The Colonials' men's freshman 4 with coxswain placed fourth in the Grand Final, ahead of Ivy League power Yale and less than a second behind Harvard. Harvard won the Ten Eyck points trophy, and Northeastern took the Clayton Chapman trophy for the most improved crew since last year.
"The Freshman 4 looked very strong the whole weekend," GW coach Matt Boyle said. "Our Varsity 4 struggled to find a rhythm all weekend and did not qualify for the Final."
