Randic Named Academic All-District First Team

MORRISTOWN, NJ - Former George Washington University men's water polo standout Srdan Randic was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II University Division At-Large First Team on Thursday, May 26. He and the other nine members of the district's first team will be forwarded to the national Academic All-America ballot, which is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Randic is the only water polo performer on the first team and he is one of three men's water polo performers to earn academic all-district honors. Jordan Gentry of Navy and John Stover of Princeton were named to the district's second team.
In 2004, Randic scored 14 goals and notched 12 assists for a total of 26 points. He also recorded 27 steals. A four-year starter for the Colonials, he helped lead GW to an appearance in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship in 2003. Randic was a four-time member of the American Water Polo Coaches Association (AWPCA) All-Academic Outstanding Team and was named to the CWPA All-Academic Outstanding Team in 2001-02. He graduated from the University with a degree in biology and owned a 3.93 cumulative GPA.
Student-athletes that compete in women's bowling, golf, rifle, men's volleyball, women's crew, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, women's field hockey, lacrosse, and tennis are eligible for the at-large ballot. To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at the school.
CoSIDA's District II covers Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
