The George Washington University men's and women's rowing teams took part in the Row for Humanity fundraiser on Jan. 26 at the Marvin Center.
Members of the men's and women's teams rowed for 12 hours on ergometers, or stationary rowing machines, placed in the Marvin Center. The 12-hour session amounted to 1.65 million meters. The rowers' efforts were the culmination of their annual fundraiser that raises money for the GW Rowing programs and the DC Habitat for Humanity.
This year the Colonials raised more than $25,000. College and high school crews across the nation took part in the Row for Humanity erg-a-thon to help fund their chapters of Habitat for Humanity. The GW rowing teams will donate at least 10 percent of the total amount raised to Habitat for Humanity.
The Colonials get back on the water March 26 when the women row at Cornell and the men row in the Murphy Cup at Philadelphia.
