
GW Names Weiss Assistant Coach for Men's Rowing

WASHINGTON, DC -- David W. Weiss has been named assistant coach for men's rowing at The George Washington University, GW head coach Greg Myhr has announced. Weiss replaces former assistant coach Jim O'Connor.
Weiss will be responsible for the Colonials men's novice rowers who open the 2005-06 season Oct. 16 at the Occoquan Chase in Woodbridge, VA.
Weiss comes to GW from Sidwell Friends High School where he was the coach for the girls team and was named All-Met Girls Coach of the Year in 2004 by the Washington Post.
A 2001 graduate of Georgetown University, Weiss was team captain and MVP of the Hoyas in 2000-01. As a member of the Hoyas' varsity eight, Weiss won gold medals at the 2001 ECAC championships and at the 1998 Champion International Regatta. Rowing in the men's four, Weiss's shell advanced to the second round of competition in the Visitor's Cup at the 2003 Henley Royal Regatta in England.
The George Washington rowing program is based at Thompson Boat Center located at Virginia Ave. and Rock Creek Parkway Northwest Washington.
